Outdoor Recreation

he Mountains & Valleys of Hiawassee and Young Harris offer an abundance of outdoor recreation….the pristine place to get back to nature. Among these are hiking on the Appalachian Trail, which is easily accessible at several points, or hiking the innumerable other trails that may lead to beautiful waterfalls or simply a quiet place in the woods where you’ll enjoy a multitude of flowers and wildlife. Lake Chatuge is a haven for fishermen, skiers and boaters. Marinas and public boat docks provide easy access to the lake. Sports enthusiasts can also enjoy mountain biking, tennis, horseback riding, llama treks, picnicking, biking, swimming at a lakeside beach, or golfing at one of three beautiful courses in our area. But some of the best outdoor recreation is just sitting back and let the fresh mountain breeze refresh you while your eyes behold the beauty of the mountains reflecting in the lake and some of the most beautiful sunsets over these Appalachian Mountains. It just doesn’t get better than this!
